Let’s celebrate our history in New York!!!! Juneteenth is a holiday celebrated on June 19th to
commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. The holiday was first
celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, enslaved
people were declared free under the terms of the Emancipation Proclamation.
This year we want to celebrate in New York city. We will be traveling on June 18th – 20th and visiting lower Manhattan in the heart of Chinatown to explore Canal St. On Canal St, there are various businesses and vendors.
Lodging will be at the Hampton Inn-Newark Airport with the Prime Outlet just a short distance
away… The Mills at Jersey Garden.
